The district
For eight centuries, the Louvre was the seat of kings and emperors. Constant alterations by successive rulers made it into a vast royal palace. Today, it is famous for one of the richest collections of art and antiquities in the world.
A little further, the Pont Neuf - the oldest bridge in Paris – spans the river Seine and takes you to the « rive gauche » and to the Ile de la Cité, dominated by the impressive and glorious cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris.
